Suzuki's new 1000cc prototype bike will be ridden by Aspar's Randy de Puniet, who will give the new bike its first runs outside of Japan. According to insiders the Frenchman, who flew to Japan after his home Grand Prix at Le Mans to try out the new Suzuki for the first time, outpaced Yamaha testrider Katsuaki Nakasuga and equalled the lap time of Honda testrider Takumi Takahashi during a test at Motegi.
Since its absence, Suzuki has continued working on the new MotoGP machine, which reportedly uses a similar inline four-cylinder engine as the Yamaha M1. Through continuing running tests at the circuits inside and outside Japan for further development and refinement, Suzuki will prepare itself before returning on the MotoGP grid in 2015.
