Williams testdriver, Valtteri Bottas, has reiterated his desire to race for Williams in 2013, saying he wants a long career with the F1 squad. The young Finn, who is backed by Williams new executive director Toto Wolff, currently fills the role of Williams' test and third driver. However, unlike other testdrivers in similar positions, Bottas has been given the opportunity to take part in Friday practice sessions, up against Venezuelan, Pastor Maldonado in FP1.
The 22 year old Finn has shown great pace during a couple of sessions, even beating the Spanish GP winner on occasions. Bottas is hoping his days as a reserve driver won't last much longer.
Speaking to GP Week, Bottas said: "It's good that I can match Pastor and sometimes beat him, and there's a lot more to come if I get to drive more
. I really enjoy working with these people and Williams has a great history. I feel at home here. The ideal would be to stay here and I hope for a long career with Williams."
However, the talented Finn concedes having even more financial backing would help him secure a seat at a team in need of additional funds.
"It helps if you have some financial backing and of course we're pushing for that," he admitted.
