Speaking to Austrian newspaper Österreich, Lauda said: “Last year, Sebastian had a huge advantage with his car, which was by far the strongest in the field. This time the stress levels are much higher. He could therefore learn something from Alonso, who excels in dealing with difficult situations properly.”
Lauda, former rival of James Hunt and Alain Prost expects a dramatic final nine events.
“The difference between the top teams is very small, as we saw at the last race in Hungary,” the 63-year-old begins to sum up. “I expect this to continue and hope that Red Bull and McLaren still have further potential to exploit.”
The Constructors’ Championship is clearer cut at present, with Red Bull Racing leading Vodafone McLaren by 53 points as F1 heads to Spa, Belgium at the end of the month.
