In 2002, Webber made his F1 debut with the Minardi team before driving for Jaguar Racing, Williams and Red Bull Racing. With the Milton Keynes-outfit, he enjoyed his best F1 career successes to date, finishing third overall in the Driver's Championship standings in 2010 and 2011.
When asked why he decided to join Porsche in the World Endurance Championship next season, Webber replied: "The timing is perfect to join a fresh programme. It’s a sensational challenge and opportunity for my future to work with one of the most famous marques in motorsport."
"It’s an honour for me to join Porsche at its return to the top category in Le Mans and in the sports car World Endurance Championship and be part of the team. Porsche has written racing history as a manufacturer and stands for outstanding technology and performance at the highest level."
“I’m very much looking forward to this new challenge after my time in Formula One. Porsche will undoubtedly set itself very high goals. I can hardly wait to pilot one of the fastest sports cars in the world.”
