"I'm not coming back to Ducati in MotoGP next year. I'm not really sure what I'm going to do," the Kentucky Kid revealed. "I've got some options that are interesting."
"MotoGP is where my heart it is, but I don’t want to stay here on a bike and run around and try to get a point here or there," he said. "I need to look at all the options and see which is the one I am most excited about and which one sounds like it will be the most fun. I am not sure Repsol Honda is going to come knocking on my door today for one of those spots."
Hayden made his MotoGP debut in 2003, after capturing the AMA Superbike title in 2002. With the Repsol Honda team, he grabbed the 2006 MotoGP crown in the last round in Valencia. In 2009, the 31 year old joined Casey Stoner at Ducati, but has not been able to win a race on the Ducati Desmosedici so far.
His exit confirmation means that this season will be his fifth and final year with the now Audi-owned outfit and his future remains uncertain at present.
