The good news is that I feel I can race in Motegi and will be re-joining my team next week and I can't wait to get back on track! This weekend I'm off to the V8's at Bathurst, I was lucky enough to go there last year also and it is truly one of the greatest motorsport events of the year, so I'm really happy to be going again this year. Thanks for all the kind messages on this blog, I look forward to return in Motegi in front of all the Honda home fans!"
Stoner, who will turn his back on MotoGP at the end of this season, has not contested a Grand Prix since he severely injured his right ankle in a big highside during qualifying at the Indianapolis Grand Prix. In his homecountryAustralia, the 26 year old Aussie subsequently had surgery and has been recovering there since, while Northern-Irish World Superbike rider Jonathan Rea has filled in for him in the last two races in Misano and in Aragon.
After missing the last three races, Stoner will return to the Motegi circuit in Japan where he has claimed one victory and three podiums. He no longer is a World title contender, having no mathematical chance of winning the Riders Championship, though will be determined to win every one of the last four races on this year's calendar before he retires at the end of the season.
