Spanish Ferrari driver and current championship leader, Fernando Alonso, has explained that the Formula One future of his close friend Robert Kubic remains very much uncertain, with the talented Polish driver still recovering from a violent crash in the Ronde di Andora rally in February last year.
The Spanish double World Champion is in contact with his former Formula 1 rival, who has yet to regain full health.
Speaking to F1 Racing, the man from Oviedo said: "It’s very hard to say whether Robert will return to 100 percent fitness and be able to race again in Formula 1. Now and again we speak and I know how much it hurts him to be so far away from what has always been his world. He has to keep calm and think first and foremost about recovering total functionality of his body, then he can think again about racing."
Many insiders tipped Robert Kubica as a replacement for Brazilian Felipe Massa at Ferrari prior to his accident, with the Kraków-born driver regarded as one of Formula 1's talented and fastest men.
