Former F1 driver Robert Kubica, who made a successful comeback to motorsport after winning the Ronde Gomitolo di Lana earlier this month, emerged unscathed when he left the road and crashed into the trees during the San Martino di Castrozza Rally.
The former BMW and Renault driver, who has been out of action since he suffered severe injuries in a rally crash in February last year, won the Ronde Gomitolo di Lana Rally in Italy, driving a Subaru Impreza WRC.
However, the second outing of the 27 year old Pole in a Subaru Impreza WRC did not go according to plan. Kubica lost control of the Subaru and ran off the road, crashing into the trees.
The Pole and his navigator Jakub Gerber escaped injury but were unable to continue as the car was badly damaged.
