Rossi Gets Accustomed To His Trusted Yamaha M1 Bike (VIDEO)


Nine time World Champion Valentino Rossi experienced a disappointing last weekend with the Ducati team in Valencia, where he finished tenth in tricky conditions at the Ricardo Tormo circuit. After his last chapter with the Bologna-based team, 'The Doctor' returned to the Yamaha team where he started the 2013 season on Tuesday by getting accustomed to his beloved, familiar and trusted Yamaha M1 bike. The characteristics of the Japanese Yamaha YZR M1 are suitable for the Italian, unlike the characteristics of the Italian Ducati Desmosedici GP11 and GP12, the bikes Rossi never came to grips with during his two year period with Ducati. The 33 year old and his Yamaha M1 bike were the perfect match, winning 46 Grand Prix races and four MotoGP World titles (2004, 2005, 2008 and 2009). This year's MotoGP title was won by Jorge Lorenzo on the Yamaha M1, who was fighting for victory almost every race with this bike. While Rossi was trying to tame the Ducati Desmosedici for the past two years, the Yamaha M1 remained to be a very strong and competitive bike, but with Jorge Lorenzo charging at the front. In hindsight, many would agree that the Italian legend made a mistake by leaving Yamaha and trying to do better at Ducati, but he's not only one making mistakes. In Formula 1, Michael Schumacher returned to the sport that made him a legend, driving a Mercedes F1 car that was not capable of winning races during his three year period with the German team. At the end of the season, Schumacher will retire, but Rossi will continue to persue a successful period with the Yamaha Factory team. Will we see the old Valentino Rossi fight for victory in 2013?
