McLaren driver Jenson Button came in fifth, with his team mate Lewis Hamilton far behind in twelfth. Brazilian driver Massa went sixth quickest with Australian Red Bull driver Mark Webber, who is hit with a five position grid penalty for the race on Sunday, finishing in seventh. Current World Champion Sebastian Vettel ended the final free practice session in ninth with French Lotus driver Romain Grosjean in eight, splitting the two Red Bulls. Scottish Force India driver Paul di Resta completed the top ten.
This morning Spa delivered bright sunshine despite somewhat chilly temperatures in the paddock. The 60-minute session promised to be action-packed, with drivers having only a quarter of the usual time to work on dry weather setups. The Hard and Medium compounds were wheeled out for the first time this weekend.
