Warwick Appointed As FIA Steward In Abu Dhabi

Englishman Derek Warwick will serve as the FIA driver representative steward at the Grand Prix in Abu Dhabi at the Yas Marina circuit this weekend.Warwick, who made his F1 debut in 1981 driving for Toleman, is taking on a role he has held on several occasions in the past. Last month, the 58 year old was a member of the decision-making panel at the Suzuka circuit in Japan.

After an eleven year career in Formula 1, the Brit raced in the British Touring Car Championship in 1995, 1997 and 1998 and founded 888 Race Engineering which has since won numerous Teams Championships.

Despite not having won a single Formula 1 Grand Prix,  Warwick has won the World Sportscar Championship and the 24 hours of Le Mans being part of the Peugeot team in 1992.

Since August last year, the former F1 driver has been President of the BRDC, replacing 1996 F1 World Champion Damon Hill.
